On April 25, 2025, join us for “Women Shaping the Future of Health and Science,” in the D. Dan and Betty Kahn Auditorium and Gilbert S. Omenn Atrium in the A. Alfred Taubman Biomedical Science Research Building.

Keynote speakers include National Academy of Medicine President Victor Dzau, M.D., Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson, U.S. Representative Debbie Dingell, U.S. Representative Haley Stevens and University of Michigan Provost Laurie McCauley, DDS.

Other featured speakers will be Linda McAllister Lucas, M.D., Ph.D., from Mayo Clinic, along with Sung Won Choi, M.D., M.S., Suzanne Dawid, M.D., Ph.D, Samantha Schon, M.D., and Kanakadurga Singer, M.D., M.A., from Michigan Medicine.

The symposium will feature three themed sections: Women Leaders Effecting Change, Women in Science, and Women in Healthcare. Each will include keynote speakers and an interactive panel discussion with Michigan Medicine leaders.

A full program can be found here.

“Women Shaping the Future of Health and Science” is a celebration of the philanthropy of Edith Briskin and her efforts to empower women in science and healthcare.

Please join us for what will be a remarkable afternoon, shining a light on the contributions of women to advancing the cause of medical science and care.   A reception will follow the symposium at 5:15 p.m.

The symposium is open to all.  Two CME credits will be available.

After this activity, participants will be able to assess leadership strategies and implement these strategies in their own professional settings, promote initiatives that create inclusive environments in scientific and medical fields, recognize the significant contributions of women leaders in science and medicine and apply strategies to address and overcome challenges faced by women in leadership roles, thereby advancing their presence and influence in these fields.

The University of Michigan Medical School is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians. The University of Michigan Medical School designates this live activity for a maximum of 2 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
