Our division focuses on both common and complex facial plastics procedures.
The Division of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery was established in 1990 and is composed of faculty members with training and experience in the treatment of common and complex facial plastics procedures, including skin cancer reconstruction, correction of facial paralysis, nasal reshaping surgery to improve breathing, ear reconstruction, reconstructive surgery for head and neck cancer.
Clinical Care
The Division of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery provides unparalleled treatment of common and complex facial plastic reconstruction and cosmetic procedures, improving the lives of patients through world-class care tailored to the unique needs of the patient. Our surgeons collectively, have more than 65 years of experience and utilize a wide variety of non-surgical treatments and surgical procedures. Faculty see patients at the U-M Center for Facial Cosmetic Surgery located at the Brighton Center for Specialty Care.
Education
Faculty members engage in daily clinical and didactic instruction of fellows, residents, and medical students across a spectrum of settings. In addition, the division takes an active role in mentoring fellows and residents in a variety of research projects. Faculty also lecture widely, both nationally and internationally.
Research
Our surgeons are active in the study and advancement of facial plastic and reconstructive surgery through research and mentorship of trainees. There is a particular emphasis on basic science and clinical research involving facial nerve rehabilitation.
