Welcome to the University of Michigan Anesthesiology Critical Care Program! I take great pride in supporting the development and growth of our fellows.

Our program offers a comprehensive clinical curriculum, a dedicated critical care ultrasound program, flexible elective time, hands-on training sessions, and in-depth didactics — all designed to equip you for a successful career as an intensivist.

I encourage you to explore our current fellow bios to get a sense of the community we’ve built. I'm constantly seeking ways to enhance our educational offerings, ensuring that our program stays at the forefront of critical care training.

In addition to my role as program director, I oversee our critical care ultrasound training program, hold NBE Diplomate status in Critical Care Echocardiography, and am a member of the SCCM Ultrasound Committee.

A career as an intensivist is both challenging and deeply rewarding. If you're interested in learning more about our program or discussing it further, please don't hesitate to reach out. Even if you're undecided about pursuing a fellowship or a career in critical care, I'm happy to have a conversation to help you make the best decision for your future.

I’m excited about the upcoming interview season — applications are managed through SF Match and overseen by the Society of Critical Care Anesthesiologists (SOCCA). I hope to get to meet you during our interviews!

Sincerely,

Matthew Sigakis, MD
