Joanna Kountanis, MD, named A&A Practice section editor

Joanna Kountanis, MD, has been named OB section editor for A&A Practice. Her appointment begins in January 2024.

A&A Practice supports the educational missions of the International Anesthesia Research Society and Anesthesia & Analgesia. It publishes short yet informative, peer-reviewed articles that simply describe: the unique perioperative or chronic pain-related clinical care of one to three patients; an important teaching point or novel educational tool; or an innovative solution to a perioperative services, patient safety, or global health management issue.

“I am extremely excited for this opportunity to learn about the editorial process beyond being a reviewer and to provide a meaningful contribution to the journal’s growth,” said Kountanis, associate professor of anesthesiology and associate professor of obstetrics and gynecology.

“I love that A&A Practice appeals to clinicians in both the academic and private practice setting. Not every hospital has grand rounds — and this journal presents interesting cases with corresponding educational points in a condensed format.”
