The Norman F. Miller University of Michigan Alumni Society was established in 1956 in celebration of Dr. Miller's twenty-fifth anniversary as Chair of the University of Michigan Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology.

The Department flourished under Dr. Miller's guidance, and the Alumni Society was established to honor his memory by continuing to support and advance the field of Obstetrics and Gynecology at U-M Medical School, and to perpetuate his dedication to excellence in clinical care, advancing the frontiers of medical research and training the next generation of physician leaders.
