Diabetes Community Seminar Series
About This Event
The Caswell Diabetes Institute at the University of Michigan aims to launch a Community Seminar Series on Diabetes. This initiative will disseminate cutting-edge research and evidence-based strategies focused on diabetes and related diseases, empowering individuals and families to make informed health decisions. By connecting scientific advancements to practical applications, this series, initiated and developed in partnership with our Diabetes Patient and Family Advisory Council, will strengthen community engagement on a condition that affects many Michiganders across all communities. Equally crucial is the need for researchers to learn from individuals affected by the disease, as their lived experiences provide invaluable insights that can shape research priorities and ensure studies address real-world challenges and needs.
The proposed Community Seminar Series on Diabetes will consist of:
- Monthly Seminars: Hosted at accessible community locations across Southeast Michigan, each seminar will feature leading researchers, clinicians, and patient advocates discussing advances in diabetes research, care, prevention, and management.
- Interactive Components: Sessions will include Q&A segments, panel discussions, and opportunities for participants to share their personal experiences and ask tailored questions.
- Culturally Relevant Content: Materials and discussions will be tailored to reflect the diverse cultural backgrounds of Southeast Michigan’s communities, ensuring inclusivity and relevance
