FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
If you qualify, participation in this study will take place over about one year. As a participant in this study, you will be asked to either complete a brief phone conversation or message with a member of our study team using an online portal for 4 weeks. After 4 weeks, you’ll either be scheduled for another session over the phone with a study counselor or you’ll have 4 more weeks of access to the portal or you’ll change to weekly video or phone calls with a study counselor for 8 weeks or you’ll change to no more contact with the study counselor and get a link to a list of resources.
These conversations can include getting to know you and what’s important to you, looking at how alcohol use and other health behaviors fit with your goals, and other resources for improving your health. You will also be asked to complete an initial assessment (brief survey and interview) and then 4 follow-up assessments across over the next year or so. All of this can be done from home or a place convenient to you!
While not everyone in our study will benefit, you may find it useful to talk with someone about your health, including alcohol use, and meeting your personal goals. You will also receive health resources and up to $190 across the study period.
If you join the M-Voice study, your information and participation will be kept confidential and secure. Information collected about you in this study (e.g., survey answers, interviews) will not be directly tied to your name, address, or other personal information.
To find out whether you qualify, we’ll ask you some questions. You can call us to complete the survey by phone or see if you are eligible to complete the survey.
