Learn more about student opportunities in the BAM lab.
The BAM lab collaborates with researchers across a broad range of educational and professional backgrounds and is dedicated to training future clinical scientists. We offer opportunities for dedicated students to conduct independent research projects using available data from our lab. We are looking for self-sufficient students who can take initiative and manage a project with guidance. You should be curious, responsible, and able to dedicate a minimum of 4 hours a week for at least two semesters. Participating in the lab offers a great opportunity to hone your specific research interests and gain valuable experience for graduate or medical school. Interested students are invited to fill out an application using the Google Form below. Promising candidates will be contacted for an interview.

Mentorship
Dr. Schroder mentors Honors Thesis students at the University of Michigan as well as U-M Medical Students for their M4 Research Capstone project (or earlier if you want to do an additional research project). If you are interested in learning more, please email him at [email protected].
As Dr. Schroder’s appointment is primarily clinical, he does not serve as a primary mentor for graduate students in U-M’s Clinical Science program. He is happy to collaborate with graduate students, however.
Letters of Recommendation
Dr. Schroder is happy to write a letter of recommendation for graduate school or medical school applications. He takes these letters very seriously. However, in order for him to write a compelling letter with examples of your strengths, you must be a part of the lab for at least one year and be involved with an independent research project in some capacity.
If you have any questions about joining the lab, do not hesitate to reach out to Dr. Schroder at [email protected].
