The overall aim of the Waldhaus Laboratory is to develop rational treatment strategies aiming to overcome hearing loss by cellular regeneration of lost hair cells. In parallel we complement our research portfolio working on development of the mammalian inner ear, specifically the organ of Corti.

Kresge Hearing Research Institute Lab
To reach this goal we employ exciting technology like CHIP- and ATAC-sequencing, flow sorting and single cell transcriptomics. It is our aim to bring together experts in the field of Biology and Bioinformatics to develop novel data analysis and visualization strategies to effectively communicate our findings and to advance the field of regenerative medicine.
Affiliation
Dr. Waldhaus is appointed in the Department of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery as a member of the Kresge Hearing Research Institute and affiliated with the Center for Computational Medicine and Bioinformatics (CCMB). We are member of the Neuroscience and Cellular and Molecular Biology Graduate Program. Through the joint graduate Program in Biomedical Sciences (PIBS) any biomedical graduate student can choose our lab for her or his thesis research.
Joining the Lab
We are actively looking for two Postdoctoral Fellows. Applicants should either have a PhD in Biology with a strong background in developmental/molecular Biology or a PhD in Bioinformatics or computational Biology. Strong work ethics and the motivation to work in a multidisciplinary team are required.
