Dr. Choi is a Research Assistant Professor at Internal Medicine, School of Medicine, and Health Management and Policy, School of Public Health, University of Michigan and an Honorary Associate Professor, University of College London. She is also a Faculty Associate at the Institute for Social Research (ISR), University of Michigan. She was a Fulbright scholar and received Ph.D. in Economics at the University of Michigan.

Dr. Choi is a labor and health economist and family demographer by training. Her research focuses on inter-relationships among health, family care resources, and socioeconomic factors. She has led multiple projects in this area, funded by the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation, the National Institute on Aging (NIA), and the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development. Dr. Choi is a current recipient of a K01 Career Development Award and two R01 research grants from the National Institute on Aging. She also assesses U.S. trends and disparities in health and disability at middle and older ages compared with other high-income countries, focusing on residential locations and socioeconomic determinants [R01AG080491 (PI, 2022-2027)].
