Research Overview
EMERGING NON-INVASIVE METHODS FOR CARDIOMETABOLIC RISK ASSESSMENT
I am investigating a spectrum of innovative tools including the use of serum biomarkers (mass spectrometric metabolomics, ultrasensitive protein assays and proteomics, and microRNA profiling) and advanced imaging methods (PET, MRI and CT) to non-invasively evaluate atherosclerosis, coronary vascular dysfunction, cardiovascular inflammation and autonomic dysfunction and their relationships with adiposity, obesity and cardiometabolic outcomes including metabolic syndrome, diabetes, renal failure, coronary heart disease and heart failure. This work has funded by three institutes of NIH through grants I have served as principal investigator for (NHLBI, NIDDK, and NIA).
