Research Overview
The focus of my research lies in experimental therapeutics in pancreaticobiliary cancers via a molecular-based approach in the laboratory. As the Lindsay Olson Pancreatic Cancer Research Professor and Section Head of Gastrointestinal Oncology in the Division of Hematology and Oncology, I am privileged to see patients within the multidisciplinary pancreatic and liver tumor programs. As a tenured clinical and translational researcher, I specialize in the design, implementation, and execution of investigator-initiated and sponsored phase 1/2 clinical trials to investigate novel compounds in patients with pancreas and biliary cancers based on pre-clinical investigation conducted either in my lab or as team science projects. As the Director of Pancreaticobiliary biobanks at the Rogel Cancer Center my translational lab generates and uses organoid models for the therapeutic investigation of novel compounds in pancreaticobiliary cancers. Additionally, I have an imaging lab with focus on imaging software development and research in morphomics and radiomics in pancreaticobiliary cancers. As the Founding Director of the Tumor Response Assessment Core (TRAC) my lab provides standardized, precision imaging metrics for patients enrolled on clinical trials at the Rogel Cancer Center.
