    James Froehlich, MD, MPH, FACC, MSVM, is the Melvin A. Lester MD Professor of Cardiovascular Medicine, Director of Vascular Medicine, Director of MCORRP, (Michigan Clinical Outcomes Research and Reporting Program), and Director of Anticoagulation at the University of Michigan Medical School. He received his undergraduate degree in political philosophy from Dartmouth College in 1982, and his medical degree from Dartmouth Medical School (now the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth College), in 1986. He completed a residency and chief residency in internal medicine at the New England Deaconess Hospital, Harvard Medical School, under Dr. Robert Moellering.

    Research Overview

    As director of the Michigan Clinical Outcomes Research and Reporting Program, (MCORRP), Dr. Froehlich has participated in and/or overseen the development of several observational registry databases, as well as ongoing clinical quality improvement projects. This includes an active interest in Fibromuscular Dysplasia (FMD), anticoagulation care and care delivery, and aortic dissection. He is currently the coordinating center director for the US Fibromuscular Disease Registry (FMD), sponsored by the Fibromuscular Disease Society of America. His past and ongoing projects have also included assisting in managing the International Registry of Acute Aortic Dissection, (IRAD), participation in the International Medical Prevention Registry on Venus Thromboembolism (IMPROVE), the Cardiac Sarcoidosis Registry (CSR), as well as an observational registry and quality improvement initiative surrounding anticoagulation care, the Michigan Anticoagulation Quality Improvement Initiative (MAQI2), for which he is co-principal investigator. Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Michigan sponsors this quality improvement project.
