    Dr. Kim is a Clinical Professor in the Division of Minimally Invasive Surgery and the Director of General Surgery at the Brighton Center for Specialty Care. She serves as the Vice Chair of Education for the Department of Surgery as well as an Associate Program Director for the General Surgery Residency Program.

    Dr. Kim graduated from Yale University and received her medical degree from Weill Cornell Medicine. She completed her general surgery residency at St. Luke's - Roosevelt Hospital in New York City and fellowship training in Minimally Invasive Surgery at the University of Texas in Houston. Prior to joining Michigan Medicine in 2019, she served as the Program Director of the General Surgery Residency at St. Luke’s – Roosevelt.

    Dr. Kim is a dedicated and skilled surgeon with specific clinical interests in hernias, surgery of the gastrointestinal tract, gallbladder surgery, and minimally invasive approaches to broad-based general surgery. In recognition of her devotion to patient care, Dr. Kim has received numerous patient choice awards over the last ten years and a wide variety of honors commending her compassionate care as well as her care as a top doctor.

    Dr. Kim is a passionate surgical educator and has won numerous teaching awards including election into the Academy of Surgical Educators. Dr. Kim’s research interests are in surgical education and global surgery.
