  • About

Dr. Allexan is a clinician educator in the departments of Internal Medicine and Pediatrics. Dr Allexan grew up in Denver, Colorado. Her undergraduate studies at Kalamazoo College brought her to Michigan. Dr. Allexan studied abroad in Quito, Ecuador where she became fluent in Spanish. She returned to the University of Colorado School of Medicine for medical school. She completed her residency in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics at the University of Michigan. Since finishing residency, Dr. Allexan worked as a traveling physician in primary care at a federally qualified health center in Napa, California with a predominantly migrant farmworker population. She also worked as primary care physician and newborn hospitalist at a rural health center in Oregon. She enjoys general medicine, pediatrics, preventative care, addiction medicine and women’s health. Dr. Allexan performs contraceptive care including Nexplanon and IUD insertions She also treats opiate use disorder. She welcomes Spanish-speaking patients.

Dr. Allexan completed a medical spanish elective during medical school at the Pop Wuj School in Quetzaltenango, Guatemala in 2016. This helped to bolster medical Spanish vocabulary, and understanding of healthcare disparities facing that community through working first-hand in the free clinic. She is now developing a partnership with 32 Volcanes, a non-profit Guatemalan association that strengthens communities holistically in the Western Highlands of Guatemala through regenerative development programs focused on health and education through sustainable community-led efforts.
