    Dr. Rama Mwenesi Musalia (RMM) is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Learning Health Sciences at the University of Michigan Medical School and Clinical Adjunct Professor in the School of Nursing's Department of Systems, Populations, and Leadership. An expert in learning health systems engineering, Dr. Musalia's work focuses on enhancing quality and safety across complex medical and surgical settings both domestically and internationally. His expertise encompass implementation science, operations management, business innovation, high-performance leadership, and the design of socio-technical infrastructures for continuous improvement in healthcare.

    Prior to academia, Dr. Musalia served as the architect and administrator of Michigan Medicine’s Perioperative Learning Health System, focusing on identifying drivers of preventable harm in surgery and developing multilevel interventions for enhancing clinical and operational outcomes. He continues to serve as the Faculty Lead for Perioperative Learning Health Systems research and is a core member of various programs, including but not limited to:
    * Institute for Healthcare Policy and Innovation (IHPI)
    * Michigan’s Nursing Executive Fellows Academy (NEFA)
    * Center for Surgical Innovation in the Department of Surgery (CSI)
    * Center for Global Health Equity (CGHE)
    * Dissemination & Implementation Science Catalyst at the Michigan Institute for Clinical & Health Research (MICHR)
    * Michigan's Program on Value Enhancement (MPrOVE)

    RMM earned his PhD in Health Infrastructures & Learning Systems from the University of Michigan, along with a B.S.E and M.S.E in Industrial & Operations Engineering supplemented with advanced training in Health Management & Policy, and Entrepreneurship. He was awarded the univeristy's highest leadership honors as an undergraduate, graduate and professional student, becoming the University of Michigan's only 3-time "Student of the Year" and 2-time "World Leader of the Year".

    Beyond academia, he serves as the proud Head Coach of the University's nationally ranked Men's & Women's Boxing Team "Michigan College Boxing," and contributes to various entrepreneurial and developmental initiatives globally.
