Eva Feldman, MD, PhD Appointed to National Academy of Medicine Council

The National Academy of Medicine (NAM), the country's most esteemed independent scientific and policy advisor on matters concerning human health, has named Eva Feldman, M.D., Ph.D., to the NAM Council.  The Russell N. DeJong Professor of Neurology and the University of Michigan James W. Albers Distinguished University Professor will begin her three-year term this July to serve on the governing and oversight council of the NAM.

Joining Dr. Feldman in a newly begun term on the  NAM Council is Cato T. Laurencin, M.D., Ph.D., an engineer, physician, scientist, and University Professor of the University of Connecticut.  Dr. Laurencin is regarded as the founder of the field of regenerative engineering.

They will join current Council members:

• Karen DeSalvo, M.D., MPH, MSc, Chief Health Officer at Google, and former Assistant Secretary for Health under President Barack Obama
• Mae Jemison, M.D., President of the Jemison Group, Inc., former NASA astronaut and the first African American woman to enter space
• Kelsey Martin, M.D., Ph.D., Director of the Simons Foundation Autism Research Initiative (SFARI) and Simons Foundation Neuroscience Collaborations
