The U-M Medical School Department of Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery is comprised of eight clinical divisions dedicated to exceptional patient care, cutting edge research and shaping the future of medicine through our training programs. Our department consistently ranks number one in the state of Michigan for ear, nose and throat care and in the top 15 in the country by the U.S. New and World Report Best Hospitals list.

We are committed to advancing the field through innovation and discovery. Faculty members and trainees engage in basic science, translational and clinical research that spans the entire field of otolaryngology. State-of-the-art research facilities coupled with collaborative multidisciplinary teams facilitate research endeavors in areas such as head and neck cancer, hearing loss, vestibular disorders and many others.

Our strong commitment to training the next generation of surgeons has resulted in our department being consistently ranked as one of the best in the country. Through our robust programs, trainees gain extensive clinical experience, benefit from research opportunities and are encouraged to participate in a wide range of educational activities to further enhance their knowledge and skills.

Audiology

We offer care for more common ENT problems for both pediatric and adult patients.

Facial Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery

We offer unparalleled treatment of common and complex facial plastics procedures.

Head & Neck Oncology

Our team has expertise and interest in head and neck cancer surgery, head and neck skin cancer and more.

Laryngology

The LarGO Division was established in 2006 and provides care for adult patients in laryngology and general otolaryngology.

Otology-Neurotology

Meet our robust support staff with expertise and interest in the management of otologic and neurotologic disorders.

Pediatric Otolaryngology

Our team is led by surgeons with many years of experience, seamlessly working together with pulmonology, audiology, speech-language pathology, patients and their families.

Rhinology & Skull Base

Our team has expertise in the treatment of diseases and disorders of the nose, paranasal sinuses, and skull base tumors.

    The 2024-25 Doximity Residency Navigator has been released. It shows that U-M has six top 5 medical education programs, with nine more in the top 10 and another nine in the top 25.
