AD-CareNET

Study Purpose 

AD-CareNET is a study to help us develop new surveys that will capture and characterize the most important aspects of the caregiving experience in “nontraditional” caregivers of people living with Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias (ADRD). A “nontraditional” caregiver is a family member other than a spouse or adult child, or a friend who helps the person living with ADRD. 

Participation

We are currently enrolling family members and friends of people living with ADRD to participate in a research study to review and test the reliability of a new questionnaire that has been developed to evaluate how caregiving experiences affect quality of life (HUM00280998). 

Study participants will complete one 2-hour computer-based survey session and an optional second survey one week later. Participants will receive $75 for each survey they complete, up to $150 total. 

The caregiver perspective is valuable and often overlooked in research. This study addresses a real gap - most dementia caregiving studies only focus on spouses and children. This study will help create better support systems for all types of caregivers.
