Transforming Vision Care for Neurologic Disease

The De Lott Research Group is dedicated to improving the lives of people affected by neurologic conditions that impair vision. Neurologic diseases frequently cause vision loss, double vision, and eye pain—symptoms that disrupt daily life and make even simple tasks a challenge. These symptoms are among the most common reasons people seek eye care in the United States, yet effective treatments remain limited.

We are changing that. Our mission is to close the gap between scientific breakthroughs and patient care—ensuring that discoveries don’t just stay in the lab but directly improve lives. Our work is driven by a commitment to patient-centered care, ensuring that every person affected by neurologic vision disorders has access to the best possible treatments.

Our research spans three critical areas:

  1. Discovery through foundational clinical research – Investigating the neurological causes of vision impairment, including ocular symptoms such as pain, and developing effective treatments to improve patient care.
  2. Turning Research into Real-World Patient Care – Developing innovative tools for earlier and more accurate detection and monitoring of neurologic diseases affecting vision and the eye.
  3. Shaping Healthcare Policy – Ensuring that breakthroughs in our research and the research of others translate into better care for all.

Together, we can accelerate discoveries that restore vision, relieve pain, and change lives.

Current Research

By the De Lott Research Group

The De Lott Research Group, led by Lindsey De Lott MD, MS, has been working for over a decade to understand how neurologic diseases impact vision and the eye and transform the care of patients with these conditions. Our patients are at the heart of our research, playing a vital role in advancing discoveries that improve care. At our Neuro-Ophthalmology Clinics and across Kellogg Eye Center, patients have the opportunity to participate in groundbreaking studies. By uncovering the root causes of how neuro-ophthalmic conditions impact the lives of patients, we aim to develop more precise diagnostic tools and personalized, targeted treatments. Together, we are accelerating the future of neuro-ophthalmic care.
