Dr. Mukesh K. Nyati is a tenured Professor in the Department of Radiation Oncology at the University of Michigan. After earning his PhD from the University of Rajasthan, India, he completed post-doctoral training at the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, and the University of Michigan.

Dr. Nyati’s research focuses on developing novel treatments for therapy-resistant cancers by targeting key oncogenes like EGFR, BRAF, and KRAS. A primary goal of his lab is to create agents that selectively degrade the activated EGFR protein, a promising strategy for drug-resistant lung cancers. His work also extends to developing therapies for lung fibrosis.

A dedicated educator, Dr. Nyati has taught radiobiology to residents for over two decades. He is a recognized mentor who has guided numerous students and fellows.

Beyond his academic roles, Dr. Nyati is committed to translating his research into clinical applications. He holds several international patents and has co-founded multiple biotech companies, including Pi Squared Therapeutics and Dvant Pharma Inc. He serves on key university committees and is an active peer reviewer for leading journals and funding agencies like the NIH. In his personal time, he volunteers for cancer awareness causes and supports charitable initiatives through his photography.
