Zhang Lab
Explore the Zhang Lab
The Zhang Lab investigates how cancer cells and their surrounding environment respond to treatment, with the goal of identifying new therapeutic strategies that enhance both radiation therapy and immunotherapy. A central focus of the laboratory is diffuse midline glioma (DMG), including diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma (DIPG), an aggressive pediatric brain cancer for which effective treatment options remain limited. Through studies spanning tumor immunology, cellular metabolism, DNA damage responses, and radiation biology, we examine how tumors adapt to therapeutic stress and interact with the immune system. These insights guide the development of scientifically grounded combination approaches designed to improve outcomes for children affected by DMG and DIPG.
