Olivia Koues Named BRCF Director
Karl Jepsen, Ph.D., Associate Dean for Research, and Cassie Wong, Senior Director for Research, recently announced that Olivia Koues, Ph.D., has been named the Director of the Biomedical Research Core Facilities (BRCF). Her appointment began on Monday, June 9, 2025.
Dr. Koues served as the Core Director of the BRCF Advanced Genomics Core (AGC) for seven years and as the BRCF Interim Research Strategist for one year before the appointment as director.
As the Director of the AGC, Dr. Koues has led and developed the core into an expansive recharge operation by creating a new, fiscally sound research and operational strategy, resulting in the introduction of new technologies and services. She has built, transitioned, and developed teams in adapting to new research demands and directions.
While serving as the new BRCF director, Dr. Koues will continue to provide strategic leadership for the AGC and step back from day-to-day operational duties. The AGC operational team is well-equipped to manage daily functions, allowing Dr. Koues to concentrate on maintaining the AGC’s national profile and supporting her broader responsibilities within the BRCF.
“Dr. Koues brings a wealth of experience in managing and leading core facilities and will now apply her enthusiasm and strong leadership to the role of BRCF Director,” said Karl Jepsen, Ph.D., Associate Dean for Research.
