Experience Comprehensive Training in All Subspecialties
Welcome to the University of Michigan Orthopaedic Surgery Residency Program.
Our 39 residents rotate at an academic medical center, pediatric hospital, VA hospital, and a large community-based hospital within 10 minutes of downtown Ann Arbor. We focus on resident education by maintaining a favorable ratio of residents to fellows, with leadership dedicated to ensuring all residents receive an extraordinary experience.
Explore an exciting spectrum of research opportunities in a department ranking within the top 10 orthopaedic departments for NIH funding. Didactic teaching experiences enable residents to learn core orthopaedic content while preparing for OITE and ABOS testing. Further dedicated training in surgical skills, research basics, patient safety, quality and leadership create a robust training experience outside the operating room.
Our culture promotes exceptional patient care, hard work and support for one another with resident wellness programs and ACGME guidelines for work hours. Our mission enables us to thrive as a team while serving a diverse patient population with world-class care.
