A world leader in the fight against amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), the ALS Center of Excellence at Michigan Medicine features a combination of renowned researchers, unrivaled facilities, and the partnership of a dedicated multidisciplinary clinic team.
We are collaborating with research leaders worldwide on a multifaceted approach to understanding the causes of ALS, developing more effective treatments, and one day making ALS a preventable disease.
Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is often referred to as Lou Gehrig’s disease. Motor neurons in the brain and spinal cord degenerate, leading to loss of muscle function and eventually death.
The Pranger ALS Clinic is the site for clinical and observational research for the ALS Center of Excellence. It is committed to providing compassionate care to patients with ALS. Fighting ALS requires a large, dedicated multidisciplinary team, such as the exceptional group we have assembled at the University of Michigan.
