MCORRP is a cardiovascular outcomes research team that was started in 1994. The faculty and staff at MCORRP create and manage a variety of data registries for a range of cardiovascular conditions. The purpose of these data registries is to create comprehensive databases that allow measurement of clinical variables, including outcomes for quality improvement as well as to promote evidence-based care models. Some of the registries are designed to collect data from a variety of health institutions from patients with rare conditions, thereby allowing researchers sufficient numbers to describe certain populations or make inferences about best practices. Other registries are created for the purpose of creating metrics for benchmarking and quality improvement. The data obtained through these efforts provides many different opportunities, from reporting quality metrics and improving clinical care to deriving risk assessment models.
