The Michigan-Israel Partnership for Research and Education (MIP) Educational Exchange Program offers a unique opportunity for trainee researchers to gain international research experience through a three-month exchange at one of MIP's partner institutions: the University of Michigan, Technion - Israel Institute of Technology, or the Weizmann Institute of Science. The program is designed to strengthen scientific collaboration between leading research institutions in the United States and Israel while fostering the next generation of researchers in biomedicine and engineering.

Program Overview

The MIP Educational Exchange Program enables trainees to conduct research in a partner laboratory abroad while maintaining strong connections with their home institution. By immersing participants in a new academic and research environment, the program promotes the exchange of ideas, encourages innovative scientific approaches, and supports the development of lasting international collaborations.

Through this experience, participants work closely with leading faculty members and research teams, contributing to ongoing projects while gaining exposure to different scientific methodologies, perspectives, and technologies. The program is intended to advance cutting-edge research and strengthen institutional partnerships between Michigan and Israel.

Program Benefits

Participants in the Educational Exchange Program receive support that allows them to focus on research and professional development during their exchange experience. Benefits include:

A three-month international research placement in a participating MIP laboratory.
Financial support for living expenses through a monthly stipend.
Program-arranged international airfare.
Reimbursement of eligible immigration and visa-related expenses upon completion of the exchange.
Access to new research environments, expertise, and collaborative networks.
Opportunities to build long-term professional relationships with faculty and researchers across institutions.
Advancing Global Research Collaboration

A central goal of the Educational Exchange Program is to create meaningful and sustainable collaborations among researchers at the University of Michigan, Technion, and the Weizmann Institute of Science. By supporting trainee mobility and collaborative research projects, the program helps accelerate scientific discovery, promote cross-cultural understanding, and expand opportunities for future joint research initiatives.

The program represents a shared commitment to excellence in research and education while preparing emerging scholars to thrive in an increasingly global scientific community.
