The Brandt Lab is expert in creatively combining large datasets to answer relevant questions. They apply modern analytic techniques to discover important connections between cholesterol, nutrition, and nutrition policies with health outcomes.

Dr. Brandt has been recognized with national and international awards for his research. Most importantly, prior work from Dr. Brandt is cited around the globe in efforts to reduce exposures to trans fats in food supplies. His work has also had direct impacts on US Policy which he achieved by working with members of congress to apply his research to evolving policies for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (formerly called Food Stamps).

The health and nutrition policy landscape is always rapidly evolving. Any of these changes present an opportunity for research to understand the impact from these policy changes. The Brandt lab seeks out these opportunities and conducts research on them that will guide future policy that can better support improved health outcomes.
