The Neurotrauma & Social Impact research team, directed by Dr. Jonathan Lifshitz, conducts rigorous, innovative, and impact‑focused research to understand, prevent, and improve outcomes after traumatic brain injury (TBI). Our work brings together basic and clinical science, social science, and advanced analytics to deliver critical evidence to improve care. We study brain injury in the real-world context of social determinants of health, adversity and stress, domestic and child abuse, gender imbalance, and Veteran mental health. Our team operates within a culture of inclusive excellence that values collaboration, curiosity, preparation, accountability, and growth for every member. We are committed to mentorship, equity, and community partnership while translating discovery into real-world impact. The impact improves lives, informs clinical and policy decisions, and supports an evidence-based approach to neurotrauma care.
