The goal of the Aortic Disease, Structural Heart and Hypertension working group is to bring together a group of scientists with an interest in diseases of the aortic and heart to help facilitate collaborations and help connect laboratories interested in aortic and heart disease research. This working group has formal meetings in the form of monthly “Research in Progress” seminars where students and faculty present their current research for group discussion and potential collaboration opportunities. Informal meetings of the group through social occasions and happy hours will also bring researchers together to interact and relax once a quarter. A goal of these meetings is to help foster the development of formal collaborations through federal R01 grants and program project grants as well as to develop networking and academic support amongst colleagues.
