Frankel Cardiovascular Center Shared Resources
Resources & Affiliations
Frankel Cardiovascular Center shared resources include shared equipment, core labs and funding opportunities.
Basic Science Resources
The Frankel CVC has a collection of shared equipment located at the NCRC and MSRB III. PI's who would like to utilize the equipment for laboratory use should contact Guadalupe Guerrero-Serna ([email protected]) to request a Memorandum of Understanding and requirements for equipment use. Specific equipment training is required for some instruments and can be provided on demand and is offered to all users of the equipment. Please contact Guadalupe Guerrero-Serna ([email protected]) regarding certain equipment functions.
Frankel CVC Affiliated Core Laboratories
Physiology Phenotyping Core (PPC)
The Physiology Phenotyping Core (PPC) provides state of the art phenotyping services for animal models ranging from zebrafish all the way to large animals, with a primary focus on mouse and rodent models of disease.
The PPC seeks to build upon and expand the expert services previously provided by the Center for Integrative Genomics. In particularly, we are excited for our recent development of services providing microsurgical models of cardiovascular disease and state of the art assessment of cardiac function using miniaturized pressure-volume catheters.
It also seeks to test hypotheses based on model predictions for computational model refinement and provides these data sets for developing new computational models.
Our Services:
Telemetry
Microsurgery & Micromanometry
Echocardiography/Ultrasound
Platelet Physiology
U-M Cardiovascular Regeneration Core Laboratory
The focus of the U-M Cardiovascular Regeneration Core Laboratory is on cardiovascular cell differentiation of hiPSCs to generate unlimited supplies of patient specific cardiovascular cells for in vitro research. These cells enable patient specific disease modeling in a dish as well as patient specific medication screening for potential cardiotoxicity side effects. These cells and our unique phenotyping platforms can also benefit Drug Discovery projects by providing early stage detection of a compound's effects on human cardiac function in vitro.
We operate on a fee-for-service basis to serve the Michigan and external research communities in their needs to derive patient specific iPSCs and differentiated cardiovascular cell types. Our primary concern is your success using iPSCs and differentiated cell types.
Platelet Physiology and Pharmacology Core
The Platelet Physiology and Pharmacology Core was established in 2016 to facilitate blood collections, pharmacological equipment usage and training services.
Our Services:
Blood Collection
Platelet Aggregation
Flow Cytometry
Complete Blood Counts on Hemavet
Non- adherent Cell Calcium Flux
Li-Cor Pearl Trilogy and Odyssey CLx
