State Profiles

The state profiles below offer an overview of each state using a combination of publicly available data and data generated by our team, including state versus national comparisons on various maternal and birth statistics, policies, and resources, among others. In addition to an overview, we include tables and maps of birth-related demographic characteristics from claims data, with a focus on perinatal mood and anxiety disorders by state and rates and demographics for relevant select outcomes at a divisional level. 

Data from states with fewer than 500 total births in CDM across the 2016-2020 study period are required to be suppressed due to small sample size. These states (Alaska, Delaware, Hawaii, Maine, Montana, New Hampshire, South Dakota, Vermont, West Virginia, and Wyoming) do not include the "Demographics and Select Outcomes Among Commercially Insured Births" document, see Appendix.
