Project History
The University of Michigan Center for Health Communications Research (CHCR) is an embedded software development agency within the University of Michigan and Michigan Medicine. Founded in 1995 as the Health Media Research Laboratory, CHCR specializes in designing and building custom digital products including web platforms, mobile applications, and personalized engagement systems that support research, health, and education initiatives.
With deep experience operating in regulated, real world environments, CHCR partners with faculty, clinicians, and program teams to deliver secure, scalable, and sustainable software solutions. We have collaborated with more than 150 researchers and clinicians, helping translate complex ideas into effective digital tools that advance research goals and improve engagement across diverse audiences.
