On April 25, 2025, “Women Shaping the Future of Health and Science,” in the D. Dan and Betty Kahn Auditorium and Gilbert S. Omenn Atrium in the A. Alfred Taubman Biomedical Science Research Building. The symposium celebrated the philanthropy of Edith Briskin and her efforts to empower women in science and healthcare.

There were three themed sections: Women Leaders Effecting Change, Women in Science, and Women in Healthcare. Each included keynote speakers and an interactive panel discussion with Michigan Medicine leaders. 

Keynote speakers included National Academy of Medicine President Victor Dzau, M.D., Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson, U.S. Representative Debbie Dingell, and University of Michigan Provost Laurie McCauley, DDS.

Other featured speakers were Linda McAllister Lucas, M.D., Ph.D., from Mayo Clinic, along with Sung Won Choi, M.D., M.S., Suzanne Dawid, M.D., Ph.D, Samantha Schon, M.D., and Kanakadurga Singer, M.D., M.A., from Michigan Medicine.
