Driving Discovery from Concept to Completion

In accordance with our mission of accelerating the results of innovative biomedical research, the Project Management Office (PMO) was established in 2018 within the institute, to support Taubman-funded clinical study efforts.

Led by Heidi Iglay-Reger, PhD, the senior project manager, the PMO onboards new Taubman Institute grantees, assists in study planning and logistics, and ensures that agreed-upon milestones are achieved.

Members of the PMO work closely with Taubman Institute Innovation Project teams and other Taubman-funded investigators to develop an electronic infrastructure that encompasses multiple aspects of clinical research – from participant screening and recruitment through data and sample collection.

To do this, PMO representatives meet with team members and approach the work from two distinct perspectives:

Chrissy Parker starts in the participant-facing team, reviewing processes such as participant screening and sample collection.

Sunita Cherian starts in the laboratory, reviewing logistics rom sample collection and back-tracking to recruitment.

Working with study teams, the PMO designs, develops and implements a comprehensive electronic infrastructure that collects quality data AND links it across multiple systems such that the study team can access the information they need with the touch of a button.

The PMO uses tools such as REDCap for participant-facing questionnaires and study tracking, LabVantage and/or Freezerworks for sample inventory, and Tableau for reporting.
