Taubman Nanobody Initiative

Nanobodies are 10 times smaller than conventional antibodies, making them able to reach parts of the body that antibodies do not. They are unique to sharks and certain animals such as llamas and alpacas.

The Taubman Nanobodies Initiative works with a llama ranch in Michigan to immunize llamas and then use their specialized blood to amplify, identify, isolate, and purify the nanobody-encoding genes of interest.

The nanobodies generated through this process can be used for practical applications in the laboratory and evaluated for their potential as diagnostic, therapeutic, and research tools.

Seq-Scope

Seq-Scope, developed by U-M scientists, is a new way to understand what genes are expressed in a very small sample. It increases the level of detail 100 times over currently available technology.
