Learn about our Projects & Case Studies

At the RMM Lab, we are passionate about co-creating innovative solutions to enhance healthcare. By merging design, engineering, and implementation science, we strive to turn the Learning Health Systems model into a practical reality. Our mission is to develop and apply methods that improve healthcare by making it safer, more efficient, and focused on high-quality outcomes for all. We are dedicated to bringing this vision to life.

At our Learning Health Sciences lab, we focus on several key areas to improve healthcare:

  • Patient Safety and Quality Improvement: We explore ways to understand and address "serious, preventable adverse events" in healthcare settings.
  • Learning Health Systems (LHS): We develop and disseminate methods, frameworks and tools to help both healthcare organizations and practitioners continuously learn, improve and adapt over time.
  • Implementation Science: We co-create and test strategies that are contextually relevant, to enhance the spread and adoption of effective evidence-based healthcare practices.

Who Are We

A Full-Spectrum Learning Health Systems Lab

Led by Dr. Rama Mwenesi Musalia (RMM), our lab aims to help health systems become better at learning, adapting, and improving care. By seamlessly combining Quality Improvement, Implementation Science, and Learning Health Systems principles, we develop and test novel strategies that enhance a system’s ability to deliver safer, higher-quality, and more just care — particularly in surgical and acute care specialities.
