Urology Resident Life and Wellness
The U-M Medical School Department of Urology Residency Program fosters a supportive and collegial environment that extends beyond the hospital walls. We encourage and cultivate social activities outside of work, and many of our residents become lifelong friends.
Every year, our residents participate in various events. Some examples:
• Pickleball
• Pool Party
• BBQ and Kickball
• Bowling
• Resident Retreat
• Resident Research Day
• Journal Clubs
• Friendsgiving
Supporting Resident Wellness
Retaining joy in medicine while managing personal stress is essential for residents' well-being. We prioritize our residents’ well-being as an integral part of their training. Our program aims to reduce burnout among urology trainees, enhance patient care, and enable meaningful contributions as urology leaders.
Our urology residency wellness program focuses on multiple wellness domains, nurturing body, mind, spirit, and humanity. These domains include physical health, mental health, social connection, work-life integration and humanitarianism.
Throughout the academic year, we hold events such as yoga and spinning classes, social gatherings, cooking classes, meditation workshops, mental health seminars and non-medical community service.
