Adult Cardiac Surgery
Section of Adult Cardiac Surgery
Providing advanced surgical expertise and superior outcomes across the full spectrum of adult cardiac care.
The Section of Adult Cardiac Surgery within the U-M Medical School Department of Cardiac Surgery continues to be a national leader in all aspects of adult cardiac care. Our outstanding faculty have a reputation for performing the highest complexity procedures in cardiac surgery, often treating patients that other major medical centers have turned away. Despite caring for the sickest patients, our outcomes are among the top in the nation, earning high ratings in aortic valve, mitral valve, and coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) procedures. Across all University of Michigan Health centers, we perform over 2,000 heart surgeries each year, reflecting the depth of our experience and the trust patients place in our care.
Our Clinical Programs
The Section of Adult Cardiac Surgery offers one of the most comprehensive and progressive surgical programs in the country, combining traditional procedures with the latest advancements in cardiac care. Our expertise spans virtually every type of cardiac procedure, from routine elective operations to high-risk interventions and complex reoperations. With renowned surgical expertise and a patient-centered approach, we deliver personalized care using the most advanced therapies in the field.
