Advanced Learning Experiences

Fellows at the U-M Medical School Department of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation are fully integrated into their chosen subspecialty area, working closely with faculty while gaining increasing responsibility in patient care, education and research. 

Each program emphasizes evidence-based practice and exposure to the latest techniques and innovations in the field.

Clinical Physician Fellowships

Cancer Rehabilitation

The program prepares physiatrists to expertly evaluate, diagnose, and manage the complex functional impairments associated with cancer and its treatments, emphasizing both clinical excellence and academic growth as leaders in oncology and rehabilitation.

Pediatric Rehabilitation Medicine

The ACGME-accredited program offers comprehensive training in both inpatient and outpatient care for children with a wide range of conditions.

Non-Operative Interventional Spine

Designed to build on core PM&R musculoskeletal training, the program provides advanced exposure to biomechanical evaluation, comprehensive spine management, and interventional procedures.

Spinal Cord Injury

The ACGME-accredited program offers comprehensive training in both traumatic and non-traumatic SCI, including cancer-related cases.

Post Doctoral Clinical Psychology Training

Rehabilitation Psychology & Neuropsychology

The fellowship program offers advanced clinical, educational, and research experiences for postdoctoral candidates with a pediatric track and adult track offered for the curriculum.

Rehabilitation Psychology & Neuropsychology Practicum

The program offers clinical practica for graduate students seeking pre-internship training experience in neuropsychology with a rehabilitation population.

Research Fellowships

Advanced Rehabilitation Research Training Program

The program trains research post-doctoral fellows to advance the rehabilitation field in community living and participation, promoted by embracing community-based research approaches.

Postdoctoral National MS Society Rehabilitation Research

The program trains new investigators to become successful independent researchers and leaders in the field of multiple sclerosis (MS) rehabilitation research.
