Pediatric Track

Our pediatric fellowship track is ideal for candidates seeking advanced training in pediatric neuropsychology within a rehabilitation setting. The program is designed to prepare fellows for independent practice and leadership roles in working with rehabilitation populations.

Fellows gain hands-on experience in both inpatient and outpatient environments and work closely with multidisciplinary teams. Primary referrals come from Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation, Neurology, Neurosurgery, Pediatrics, and the Craniofacial Anomalies Program through Plastic Surgery, among others.

Throughout the fellowship, trainees build competencies essential for high-quality care in rehab contexts, including the assessment and treatment of children and adolescents with chronic physical disabilities, spinal cord injuries, burns, orthopedic trauma, limb loss, and chronic pain. Fellows develop a nuanced understanding of the relationship between neuropsychological functioning and adaptation to disability.

In addition to clinical work, fellows have opportunities to engage in research and, depending on availability during the second year, may also supervise practicum students.

Adult Track

The Adult Rehabilitation Neuropsychology Track offers extensive training with individuals facing a wide range of conditions requiring rehabilitation, including traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, stroke, encephalopathies, brain and spinal tumors, hematologic cancers, limb loss, orthopedic injuries, burns, developmental disorders such as spina bifida, multiple sclerosis, and rare autoimmune conditions like Guillain-Barré syndrome and neuromyelitis optica.

Fellows participate in both inpatient and outpatient settings, delivering psychological and neuropsychological services as part of multidisciplinary rehabilitation teams. Training includes comprehensive supervision and mentoring in clinical care, case presentations, and career development.

Fellows also have opportunities to engage in collaborative clinical research and, depending on availability, may provide tiered supervision to junior trainees. Graduates of the program are well-prepared for careers in rehabilitation neuropsychology, with many securing positions at leading academic medical centers.
