Cognitive assessments are often inaccessible for individuals with severe speech and motor impairments or significant developmental delays. For individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD), planning for the future and optimization of independence can be challenging, particularly without clear assessment of skills and abilities. The Adapted Cognitive Assessment and Transition Planning research program focuses on better understanding barriers and strategies for successful transition planning including the development of more accessible assessment strategies.
Research Focus
Prior research foci have included assessment of working memory and inspection time (visual processing speed) in individuals with cerebral palsy, as well as predictors of successful transition planning for individuals with developmental disabilities.
Areas of Focus
- Adapted Cognitive Assessments
- Transition Planning for Individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities
