Diagnostic Radiology Residency
Training Leaders in Radiology
We are committed to developing outstanding radiologists and the future leaders in our field.
The Future of Radiology
Michigan's Radiology residents are exceptional. Our graduates go on to lead – in academic institutions, clinical practices, and professional societies, and they form an extensive network across the globe.
Education is a priority in our program, department, and institution. Residents receive top-notch clinical training and participate in dedicated leadership training, through which they engage in research, healthcare administration, medical education, information technology, and other areas. Our residents work alongside world experts at the workstation and in daily protected conferences. They are an integral part of interdisciplinary teams across Michigan Medicine, which is home to 1,700 trainees from all different specialties, outstanding clinical departments, and one of the most powerful academic research centers in the country.
Radiology is increasingly at the forefront of medicine, and we expect that our residents will be carrying the torch.
Transformation of residents into national leaders doesn’t happen by chance. We take our mission seriously, providing a residency experience that equips trainees to lead, innovate, and thrive. Our residents, faculty, and staff are exceptionally talented and collaborative. We have high expectations for one another professionally as clinicians, teachers, researchers, and leaders. We are constantly improving our program, and our residents take an active role in that process. Above all, we are part of a team that gives residents the skills to be game-changers in the field.
A Unique Training Ground
The environment here at U-M Medical School is unique. We are fortunate that our training program is located at one of the best medical centers and universities in the world, so we are surrounded by excellence in many fields. Our radiology faculty have various interests, yielding numerous publications in multiple fields. Their passion has not gone unnoticed; our attendings occupy leadership positions in multiple nationally recognized organizations, including the RSNA, ACR, ARRS and AUR.
Residents spend the majority of their time at the University of Michigan main medical campus, which is located within the undergraduate campus and includes over 1100 inpatient hospital beds across multiple buildings: University Hospital (tertiary and quaternary care hospital), C.S. Mott Children's Hospital (women’s and children’s hospital), and the Samuel and Jean Frankel Cardiovascular Center (cardiac and vascular care).
There are two major outpatient facilities on the main medical campus, the A. Alfred Taubman Health Care Center and the Rogel Cancer Center, and multiple outpatient centers in and near Ann Arbor, including East Ann Arbor Health and Geriatric Center and the Brighton Center for Specialty Care. Additionally, residents rotate at the Ann Arbor VA hospital.
