The University of Michigan Caswell Diabetes Institute supports rigorous science and its integration with patient-centered clinical care, leading the way to prevent, treat, and cure diabetes, its complications, and related metabolic disorders.
Over 300 faculty are across the University of Michigan campus to study complex issues in our fight against diabetes, obesity, and associated disorders and complications. The Caswell Diabetes Institute provides centralized support to these scientists, providers, and centers, and leads strategy and coordination across diabetes, obesity, and metabolic programs and services.
What We Do
- The Caswell Diabetes Institute provides and supports a diabetes-focused Clinical Research Unit.
- The Caswell Diabetes Institute identifies shared needs among investigators that focus on diabetes-related clinical research and coordinates and supports services and infrastructure to meet these needs.
- The Caswell Diabetes Institute supports and promotes the integration of clinical research with the care of patients with diabetes.
- The Caswell Diabetes Institute helps to train, recruit, and support clinical researchers that focus on diabetes-related issues.

Biostatistical Resource for Early Career Investigators
We provide biostatistical core support to early career investigators planning to submit diabetes, obesity, or complications-focused career development awards who need to incorporate biostatistical support within their applications.
