Advancing the future of diabetes research requires more than scientific discovery—it requires investing in the people behind the science. The CDI Training & Mentoring Program is committed to supporting trainees and early-career investigators through meaningful mentorship, professional development, networking opportunities, and skill-building experiences. By fostering a collaborative and inclusive research environment, we help prepare the next generation of scientists and leaders dedicated to improving diabetes prevention, treatment, and care.
Led by Kanakadurga Singer, MD, and Dave Bridges, PhD, the CDI Training & Mentoring Program provides opportunities for trainees and mentors to learn, connect, and grow through initiatives such as:
- Grant Writing & Research Development – Peer writing groups, faculty-led workshops, and grant preparation support.
- Networking & Community Building – Social events, mentorship roundtables, trainee engagement activities, and recruitment initiatives.
- Mentor Development – Workshops focused on effective mentoring, inclusive training practices, recruitment strategies, and national networking opportunities.
- Professional Growth & Outreach – Career development programs, leadership opportunities, community outreach experiences, and participation in initiatives such as Women Inspiring and Elevating Leadership in Diabetes (WIELD).
Together, we are building a supportive community that empowers researchers at every stage of their career journey.
