What to Expect?

Hear from Program Director Dr. Beaulieu about the training experience in the Integrated Vascular Surgery Residency.

Our residency program offers:

  • Extensive experience: We have a near-equal distribution of volume in open and endovascular cases.
  • Three diverse clinical training sites: The VA Ann Arbor Healthcare System for experience with routine vascular surgery; St. Joseph Trinity Healthcare Hospital; and Michigan Medicine, a large academic medical center drawing diverse and complex cases from around the country and the world.
  • Exposure to all aspects of vascular surgery: Our operating surgeons represent all aspects of the specialty, from common vascular procedures to specialized practices such as complex cerebrovascular reconstructions, advanced open reconstruction of the thoracic and abdominal aorta and visceral branches, advanced endovascular procedures, thoracic outlet syndrome decompressions, and pediatric vascular procedures.
  • Two years of protected and funded academic development time between the third and fourth clinical years: This is a rarity among vascular residency programs that provides a valuable opportunity to round out your training with basic, translational, and health services research, publications and presentations, and leadership development.
  • A record of excellent outcomes: Our record includes a 100% vascular surgery QE and CE pass rate and graduate placements in sought-after positions.
