We offer a wide array of research environments that offer our faculty and trainees different opportunities to thrive.

Our unique collection of initiatives and associated research centers drive development in core areas. These initiatives include the Center for Basic & Translational Science, the Center for Healthcare Outcomes & Policy, the Center for Surgical Training and Research, the Center for Global Surgery, the Center for Surgical Trials and the Center for Surgical Innovation. 

Academic Development Time (ADT) opportunities are offered through each of the centers.

The Center for Basic & Translational Science (CBATS) is a dedicated research community focused on all aspects of human diseases.

Global Surgery

The Center for Global Surgery supports goals related to global health education, international surgical care and world health policy and research.

Outcomes & Policy

The Center for Health Outcomes & Policy (CHOP) conducts outcomes research across a wide array of specialties.

Surgical Education Research

The Center for Surgical Training & Research (CSTAR) seeks to improve and grow our training programs.

Surgical Innovation

The Center for Surgical Innovation is a collaborative community that aims to support innovative ideas and entrepreneurship in surgery.

Surgical Trials

The Center for Surgical Trials brings together a community of faculty and trainees working to advance clinical trials.

Rwanda marks 100th kidney transplant through U-M collaboration
