Our program is a one year ACGME accredited fellowship in the Department of Internal Medicine with three dedicated interventional cardiology fellows per year. Sub-specialty certification is through Cardiovascular Medicine. We provide comprehensive training and allow fellows the opportunity to work with expert invasive cardiologists in Michigan Medicine's premier medical institution.
The program complies with all Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) requirements and provides COCATS Level III training in interventional cardiology. Fellows are immersed in a high volume, comprehensive, and supervised educational experience in interventional cardiology, performing a wide range of diagnostic and interventional procedures as primary operator.
Learning takes place at the Samuel and Jean Frankel Cardiovascular Center and the Ann Arbor Veteran’s Administration Hospital, housing state of the art imaging facilities comprised of four cardiac catheterization laboratories, two hybrid suites, and an OR suite where over 4,000 cases are performed annually.

Applications for our Interventional Cardiology Fellowship Program should be submitted through the Electronic Residency Application System (ERAS). Our program utilizes the ERAS web-based system for processing fellowship applications. We do not accept paper applications for these positions.

The Ann Arbor Veterans Affairs Health System is a major referral institution within the Veterans Health Agency. It is responsible for providing primary, secondary and tertiary care to veterans residing in the lower peninsula of Michigan and also Northwestern Ohio. It operates 105 acute care beds and 40 Community Living Center (extended care) beds. More than 550,000 outpatient visits are made to its facilities yearly.
The University of Michigan offers highly competitive salaries and generous benefits to our fellows and advanced trainees. Trainee salary will be commensurate with that of a House Officer at an equivalent level of training based on the HOA contract.
