Hematology & Oncology: Faculty Recruitment

The University of Michigan Medical School's Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Hematology & Oncology, is embarking on a major expansion of its clinical services. The Division provides expert hematology/oncology care to a large and diverse patient population across Southern Michigan. 

We seek to recruit faculty interested in developing their career in a vibrant academic environment that is committed to integrating basic, translational, and clinical research with outstanding and compassionate clinical cancer care. 

Each new faculty will join a specialized multidisciplinary team of team of clinicians, translational researchers, and physician scientists that is supported by nurses, nurse practitioners and physician assistants. Providers have access to exceptional pathology, radiology, and radiation oncology services. 

The Division provides strong and consistent mentorship, including carefully structured mentorship teams, individual development plans, and opportunities to expand skills. We are built on a foundation of integrity, transparency, accountability, and respect. We are seeking faculty with a strong sense of responsibility and ownership who enjoy working in an open and collegial environment. Leadership opportunities will be available for candidates with appropriate experience and qualifications. 

Responsibilities will include in-person and telehealth clinics, inpatient hematology or cellular therapy services, development and conduct of clinical trials, as well as educating medical students, residents, and fellows. 

Experience in clinical trials, particularly investigator-initiated studies, is highly desired but not required. Candidates must be board-certified/eligible and hold or have the ability to obtain the appropriate medical licenses in the state of Michigan. Current Positions

The University of Michigan Medical School is seeking a full-time medical hematologist to provide outstanding care and expertise in the evaluation and management of patients with non-malignant hematological disorders. This individual will join an outstanding team of clinicians and researchers as part of the hematology team providing clinical care and research opportunities to enable the highest success in treating patients with benign hematological conditions. Our team consists of clinicians, clinical researchers and physician scientists focused on cytopenias, myelodysplastic syndromes, coagulopathies, and other benign hematologic conditions.

Responsibilities will include in-person and telehealth clinics and inpatient hematology services, as well as educating medical students, residents, and fellows. Structured mentoring will be available to the successful candidate interested in an academic career in benign hematology.

The University of Michigan is seeking a full-time medical oncologist to provide outstanding care to patients with breast cancers and people at high risk of developing breast and ovarian cancer. This individual will join an exceptional team of clinicians and researchers as part of the breast medical oncology program. They will provide clinical care and have wide-ranging research opportunities to enable their greatest success. Our team consists of clinicians, clinical researchers, physician scientists, and genetic counselors, all of whom share in our mission to improve the care of patients with breast cancer and those with inherited cancer susceptibility.

Responsibilities will include in-person and telehealth clinics. In addition to patient care, the Rogel Comprehensive Cancer Breast Cancer Clinic provides the opportunity to conduct and participate in therapeutic, symptom management and biomarker clinical trials. The Breast and Ovarian Cancer Risk Evaluation Clinic is a collaborative program between physicians and genetic counselors.  Clinicians provide expert guidance to patients regarding genetic testing for inherited cancer susceptibility, high-risk breast cancer surveillance, and cancer risk-reducing treatment options. 

In addition to the above, responsibilities will include attending on inpatient oncology services, as well as educating medical students, residents, and fellows. Structured mentoring and leadership opportunities are available for appropriate candidates.

The University of Michigan Medical School is seeking a full-time faculty member medical oncologist/hematologist to provide exceptional care and management for adult patients who are undergoing blood and marrow transplantation, hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HCT), CAR-T and other cellular therapies.  This individual will join an outstanding team of clinicians and researchers as part of a multidisciplinary team providing state-of-the-art care for patients with malignancies or non-malignant conditions.
