Advanced Endoscopy Fellowship
The Advanced Endoscopy Fellowship is a 1-year training program for candidates who have already completed a 3-year ABIM-certified Gastroenterology Fellowship. The purposes of this 4th-year Endoscopy Training Program are to provide the fellows with the cognitive and technical skills to perform EUS and ERCP and related endoscopic procedures at the expert level. The program seeks to train the future leaders of academic endoscopy in the United States as well as internationally.

Applicants must be U.S. citizens or have permanent residency status.
Applicants with a J-1 visa or an H1B visa are not eligible to apply for this training program because salary support for the fellowship is generated by the trainee, who performs general endoscopic procedures one day per week.

Clinical Training
The dedicated faculty are all experts in both procedures; the program performs approximately 1300 EUS and 1300 ERCP procedures per year, providing suitable experience to train two advanced fellows. In addition, the trainees will gain exposure to state-of-the-art stenting and mucosal resection/ablation techniques, as well as balloon-assisted enteroscopy. A dedicated case conference is run by the trainees in collaboration with the active faculty and hepatobiliary surgeons on a biweekly basis. In addition,the GI Division offers a broad array of conferences to enhance the trainees’ experience.
The advanced endoscopy trainee is expected to participate in scholarly activity. There are numerous clinical and translational research studies undertaken by the program faculty, including active collaborations with the College of Engineering.

Salary & Benefits
The University of Michigan offers highly competitive salaries and generous benefits to our fellows and advanced trainees. Trainee salary will be commensurate with that of a House Officer at an equivalent level of training based on the HOA contract.
